Gluten Free Friendly Restaurants in Bournemouth (Fish & Chips, Pizza, Noodles)

Let’s face it, travelling as someone who is gluten intolerant or gluten sensitive can be a daunting task. I was fortunate to have found some yummy and accommodating places while in Bournemouth (Dorset County) that safely - and healthily! - satiated my cravings.

These spots are unfortunately celiac-friendly, but they are gluten-intolerant/ gluten-sensitive friendly.

Disclaimer: My camera had been broken at this time, hence the replacement camera that took these 240p quality photos. Sorry in advance 😂!

The Stable

The Stable restaurant chain serves up pizzas, pies, and ciders in comfortable rustic settings. They have multiple locations in Britain, and within Dorset County specifically there is the Bournemouth and Poole locations.

Although not celiac-friendly, they do cater to gluten-sensitive diets by offerings up free substitutions to their existing pizza menu with gluten-free doughs. They also make gluten-free desserts (such as brownies) which honestly taste 👏fan👏tas👏tic👏.

The reason I love The Stable is that their pizza toppings are inventive and enticing. Particular favourites include “Billy The Kid” (fresh spinach, field mushrooms, caramelized onions, Rosary goats’ cheese, mozzarella, and hazelnuts) and “The Durdle Door” (fresh spinach, Blue Vinney, Rosay goats’ cheese, and Dorset red smoked cheddar).

Major props to their vegetarian and vegan options, as well! If you’re feeling adventurous, their cider is worth a try.

Chez Fred

Monday is no longer is the worst day of week - if you live near Chez Fred, that is. On this day of the week, this posh fish and chips spot serves up both their regular and gluten-free batter.

The fries are also a standout feature at this spot, as they manage to consistently be crispy on the exterior, and soft in the interior.

Never feel like you’re settling for a knockoff version of a pre-gluten-free product when you head over to Chez Fred, as their gluten-free batter is most definitely up to standard!

Noodle Bar

Noodle Bar underwent a renovation while I was in Bournemouth, but luckily it became even better than it had been before!

Huge portions of delicious noodles that you can customize to your liking are on the menu at this Bournemouth place. Due to the amount of freedom you have when choosing your order, it’s very easy to ensure that it can be gluten-friendly (or diet-friendly if you’re trying to make healthy substitutions).

If it’s too busy when you show up, it’s just as easy to order takeout from this cozy little spot in Lansdowne.
