Top 3 Best Boston Coffee Roasters (American Coffee Roastery Reviews - Massachusetts USA)

With the number of students and tourists who bustle in and out of New England’s cultural centre, it’s no mystery as to why there are so many fantastic coffee shops around the city. However, three coffee roasters in particular reign supreme in my opinion.

Read on to discover the beans you’ll want to try, and brew for yourself at home! And if you are so inclined, let me know in the comments what additions you would add to this list!

If you want more review and suggestions of Coffee Roasters, be sure to check out my other posts, based north of the border in Canada, but soon to feature more American roasters:

1. GEORGE HOWELL COFFEE

George Howell has a lot of experience in the coffee game - over 30 years, in fact! In 1994, after selling all 24 of his "The Coffee Connection" cafés to Starbucks (yes, the Starbucks), George began his roasting journey. With such a colourful resume, it’s no wonder the beans you can pick up from George Howell are consistently fantastic!

The roastery spotlights the beans and the farmers themselves - in-depth information on the process, region, terroir, and people who crafted them can be found on their website. There is a lot of transparency, and the quality of the sourced goods is evident in every bag.

Do yourself a favour, and grab some beans to roast from George Howell. And if you’re able to treat yourself further, get them to roast you a cup, too!

Also note that there is free shipping in throughout the United States of America on orders over $50.00.

Location: Boston, MA

Café: 505 Washington Street / Public Market 100 Hanover Street

2. GRACENOTE COFFEE

Gracenote is excited about roasting coffee!

I was greatly pleased by the amount of enthusiasm and detail provided when I inquired about specific beans when I visited the café. These roasters are clearly passionate about their product, and it comes through when you brew their beans.

Gracenote employs a variety of roasting methods to ensure that they can highlight each specific bean to the best of it’s ability.

They see the potential in each coffee bean, and strive to reach it every time. Between you and me? I think they succeed.

Location: Boston, MA

Café: 108 Lincoln Street

3. OGAWA COFFEE USA

As the first international outpost of this Japanese roaster, Ogawa deserves a mention.

Located on the very appropriately named ‘Milk Street’, Ogawa makes some decadent coffee-and-milk based beverages. On top of that, their beans also pack a mighty punch!

Ogawa prides themselves on the top tier level of their products. In their own words, they prioritize “quality over profitability”. The Kyoto founded roastery delivers the same expertise in this American café, and passionately serve and sell beans which help prove how they’ve successfully expanded international.

fir unique beans to brew at home, check out Ogawa!
