The Blue Church of St. Elizabeth in Bratislava - Old Town Spotlight

For a magical building in Bratislava that looks pulled out of a fairytale, I present to you:

The Blue Church of St. Elizabeth

Look at her! Isn’t she marvellous? Wow… this honestly took my breath away. The only other building I’ve seen in real life that made me feel as though I was looking at real-life fairytale architecture was the Duomo in Florence.

A blue stone with a mini mural outside of the building bares the name of the church in Slovak: Nenarodenym.

It was a happy surprise that I was wearing blue when I spotted the church. Although I knew of it’s existence, I didn’t expect it to be so… blue.

The Church itself, built in 1909-1913, is a Hungarian Secessionist church, and it still holds services. Believe it or not, this Hungarian art-nouveau church was originally the chapel of the nearby High School.

Here is some more shameless posing. The church was too large to take a full photo of with my phone.

If you’re in Bratislava, I highly recommend visiting the church. If you are unable to go inside, it is still worth seeing the facade. If you do manage to see the inside, you’ll be impressed with how blue it is, as well.

Thank you for reading, lovely! Hope the only thing blue about your day is seeing these photos!
