UFO Bar & Restaurant in Bratislava - Worth it?

If you’re travelling to Bratislava, chances are you’ve heard of the UFO. If you haven’t heard of it, you’ll definitely see it when you arrive. It’s that big huge UFO-looking thing directly above Bratislava’s Nový most (New bridge). It’s located near Sad Janka Král’a park, and St. Martin’s Cathedral.

Now, if you’re wondering whether it’s worth going up the UFO Tower, it’s an attraction that offers spectacular panoramic views of the city and the Danube for 7,40 €. I personally think the view is worth a trip up! However, if you go to the bar, you don’t need to pay the price to visit the flight deck. Look at this fantastic view of Bratislava Castle below (don’t judge the terrible quality of my phone camera at nighttime…):

The observation deck itself has some cute features, such as the “love-lock” heart, and some basic information about the tower.

Now, while we’ve established that it’s worth going up to the tower, is it worth going to the UFO Bar & Restaurant? Often, bars attached to attractions are wholly overrated money-grabs.

However, despite the drinks being on the pricier side (for Slovakia), I personally had a fabulous experience.

To begin, the service was top-notch. After we were offered a seat (with a phenomenal view and comfortable chairs), our server took the time to explain each of the drinks to us. There was a very nice ambiance, with purple-coloured mood lighting and slow piano music playing. Considering how high up we were, I don’t think it’s really needed that I mention how fantastic the view was.

Now, on to the important question: Were the cocktails any good?

YES!

My friend ordered the orange drink with the purple flower on it (I can’t remember the name) and she really liked the taste. It was very sweet and fruity. After asking about the most popular drink, I ordered the Paprazzi. Although I was underwhelmed when the drink first arrived out (the pale green liquid in a glass paled in comparison to the bold orange concoction), I must say what happened afterwards blew me away.

The waiter came back with a polaroid camera, and yelled out for us to strike a pose. Then, they put the photo on the drink! It was very unexpected, but made for a fun topic of conversation for my friend and I during the rest of the night. It also tasted great, so that was a bonus!

We later had a nice long chat with the waiter, and we enjoyed how welcome we felt.
