Best Cheap French Vintage & Thrift Stores in Paris

Vintage shopping and thrifting is good for your wardrobe, the environment, and your wallet! Due to this, it’s no wonder it’s immensely popular in many different cities, Paris being one of them.

The French capital has some of the best vintage shops in the world, ranging from cheap finds to rare & expensive valuables. Below, I map out the more budget-friendly options that kept me looking on-trend and chic for an affordable price tag when I lived in Paris. Enjoy!

1. Kilo Shop

If you like shopping in grocery stores, you’ll love buying your next wardrobe essential at Kilo Shop!

Each item in this shop is equipped with a specific “tag”. Items with a certain “tag” constitute a particular cost-per-kilo. Your items with a certain tag get weighed at that price point, and you pay accordingly. Essentially, the price is determined by the kilo of the items you are buying based on their “tag”.

If that still doesn’t make sense, picture a grocery store: you pay a certain price (per kilo) for grapes, and another price (per kilo) for oranges Like fruit, each item is weighed and priced based on what it is. Simple!

What I love about Kilo Shop is how inexpensive it is. The stores are always well designed, and are made for “scavenging”. Racks upon racks of well-organized clothing is laid out before you, and the goal is to have you search through the clothing until you find what you like. This is the type of store in which you pay a small price for a large haul.

There are plenty of weighing-scales around the shop, so that you are able to determine the price of your items before purchasing. Explore, and you’ll be sure to score some budget-friendly finds!

2.  Espace Kiliwatch

Espace Kiliwatch is situated in the trendy and food-friendly 2ème arrondissement (2nd district) of Paris. Kiliwatch itself is its own clothing store that sells fairly expensive new clothing. However, at the back of the store is their affordable vintage collection!

Just like the area that surrounds it, this store stocks well-curated and on-trend clothing pieces. Multiple employees keep the racks clean and organized, and pair things up in an intelligent manner.

The types of things you are likely to find are jean jackets with unique touches (i.e. military sleeves, acid-wash, cropped), patterned silk scarves, silk shirts, maxi dresses in an array of colours, and more accessories than a rockstar would wear.

I personally pop by every time I’m in Paris to try and find some staple pieces. The store stocks high-quality goods, and is a great place for any budding fashionistas.

3. Noir Kennedy

If you’re ever on the search for that perfect band tee, or you are a general amateur of all things grunge / rock’n’roll, Noir Kennedy is the store for you.

This vintage shop in Le Marais neighbourhood has an interior as cool and conceptual as the pieces it sells.

The owners of the store don’t just resell old vintage goods; in many cases they either “re-paint” or “re-design” (note: cut-up, fix-up, sew-up) older pieces to make them brand new and unique.

Although not as cheap as other stores mentioned on this list, Noir Kennedy is a fantastic vintage store in Paris that really has some standout pieces you won’t regret purchasing.

4. Mamie Blue

Retro lovers can rejoice at Mamie Blue.

This vintage store sells well-maintained retro goods at a discounted price. The staff are always friendly, and the pieces make more unique touches to any wardrobe, old or new.

On top of dresses, gloves, sunglasses, and jackets, the store also sells gently used shoes from the 60s-70s. It’s always fun to visit the store, as you feel as though you’re walking through a museum at the same time as shopping. Fun!

For those who want cheap’n’chic clothing, Chinemachine is here!

The store itself doesn’t sell only vintage; there is also a “new” section. However, the vintage clothing itself is well picked out, and quirky.

The owners clearly pay attention to trends, and always have things out that speak to the styles of today. For a good all-around vintage store, Chinemachine is a safe, and affordable bet.

6. Vintage Désir

If you desire some vintage, you’re in luck when you check out Vintage Désir in Le Marais.

I have bought many pieces here at very reasonable prices (usually 3€ - 10€). As it is located in Le Marais (known for its fashion), many of the pieces I have found in this store have been very bold and daring. Think military-style jackets with gold detailing, tea-length plaid dresses, a velvet-skater dress with a built-in choker, and bedazzle cowboy hates (Old Town Road, anyone?)

The store is quite small, but it has an intimate feel which makes it fun to sort through. Overall, it’s a cute little vintage shop with very affordable daring pieces.

7. Free’p’star

Do you get an adrenaline rush when purchasing a large quantity of items? Do you also enjoy paying the absolute lowest price possible for any item you fancy?

If the answer to either / both of these questions is “yes”, then you will adore FREE’P’STAR. The eclectic Parisian store has multiple locations, each of them boasting overstuffed racks and bins-full of clothing.

The most popular feature of this shop is the “1 Euro” bins in the front, that are exactly as described: Anything you find in there is only a single euro to purchase!

I cannot stress the amount of enjoyment I get out of, essentially, chic dumpster-diving for an immensely cool off-the-shoulder t-shirt, or corduroy vest. This store is fun, and doesn’t break the bank.

Check it out for some cheap thrills!
