Top 3 Best Gluten Free Restaurants in Holt, Norfolk UK

I recently had a rather restorative trip to Norfolk, specifically in Holt.

This area of the U.K. is well worth a visit. It may not be as abundant in gluten free options as other parts of the British Isles, but I did find some gems while out there. Read on to discover the best places to try!

Kings Head Letheringsett Holt

I love a good Sunday Roast.

King’s Head has brilliant gluten free versions on offer, as well as other tittilating tidbits to eat.

I ordered the Chicken Liver Parfait, two roasts (one beef, one chicken), and the Sticky Toffee Pudding. All were excellent, fresh, and well portioned. The standout elements (hard to choose just one!) were the roasties, which were crisped to perfection.

A special mention needs to be given to the staffs attention to detail in regards to my gluten allergy. They were very helpful and accommodating in ensuring I had a safe meal. Although I wasn’t able to enjoy a Yorkshire Pudding, they swapped in extra potatoes to accommodate. They also gave me gluten free bread for my starter, and continuously verified everything was flourless.

Overall, and wonderful experience. The ambiance was also charming!

The Feathers

The Feathers is a cozy pub, with more upscale fare.

Traditional offerings - Sunday roast, steak and chips - sit amongst modern meals - mushroom pâté, cockle popcorn with a lemon aioli. The best part? A large portion of it is gluten free (and noted as such on the menu)!

This particular establishment left me very pleased after my meal. Everything was fresh, cooked to perfection, and I enjoyed each course more than the last. My steak (medium rare) was able to be slit like butter, and the beef main dish was one of the most tender cuts I’ve had in a long time.

The surprising highlight for me was the cheese board for dessert, which showcased the best of Norfolk local’s dairy delights. I appreciated the addition of gluten free toast at no extra cost.

In general, a lovely pub with lovely food ideal for a lovely evening.

Holt Fish Bar

If you’re craving a flourless-and-crispy fish-and-chips, then Holt Fish Bar has you covered!

This fishery/ chippery doles out hearty portions of the British staple. The gluten free batter for the fish is well-seasoned, and has a very satisfying crunch. The chips are also cooked in a dedicated fryer, ensuring safety.

Do you have other dietary restrictions? You’re in luck! There are tons of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, too! That’s enough to catch my interest hook, line, and sinker!
