Wildcraft Skincare Review (Toronto Small-Batch, Cruelty-Free, and Vegan Brand)

Wildcraft is a Toronto-based natural skincare brand, that take care in creating small-batch, organic products. Best of all? Unlike other “natural” or “non-toxic” brands on the market, Wildcraft takes pride in providing high quality products at an affordable price-point.

Despite being an accessible brand, their ingredients lists don’t skimp on quality - everything seems free from pesky fillers, dyes, and artificial fragrances. Instead, expect to find your products fill of luxurious botanicals and oils (think Seabuckthorn Oil, Kale Extract, or even Marshmallow Root Infused Sunflower Oil).

I really love the ethos behind this brand, and have really enjoyed some of their products. Read on to find out my honest thoughts on a few of their staples!

Wildcraft’s Wash Oil Cleanser is a gentle, soothing, and calming oil cleanser. It can be used on its own as a daily cleanser (with light, everyday makeup), or in tandem with Cleanse Makeup Remover in order to fully remove heavier makeup.

This oil cleanser is delightful, as it adequately removes daily makeup and dirt, without your clogging pores, or stripping your skin of its natural oils.

A great feature of this cleansing oil is the addition of Tea Tree Oil and Frankincense Oil, which help keep blemish-prone skin from having excessive flares. The calming effects of the Marshmallow Root Infused Sunflower Oil work well to stop any irritation, even for those with sensitive skin (such as myself).

I enjoy the scent of this oil, which is quite botanical and fresh. However, even if you’re not a fan of the scent, it’s quite faint, so it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Overall, this is a nice cleansing oil to add to your routine. Its hydrating, while also being effective at removing makeup and grime. Give it a try!

Clairfy Toner

Clarify is one of two toners offered by the brand (the other being Balance).

Something I like about Wildcraft in general is that it doesn’t have extensive ingredient lists (no fillers - yay!). Case in point: this toner only has 4 ingredients. However, one of those ingredients is Witch Hazel, which usually bothers my skin (note: I am not allergic). Unfortunately, being 1/4 of the formula, this caused some hesitation on my part.

Despite this, I wanted to give at least a full skincare routine from this brand a fair chance, so I purchased this toner. After giving it a shot, I ended up gifting it to my mum, who has less sensitive skin than I do.

I found it mildly irritating to my skin, and it left it feeling dry. I didn’t get any massive reactions, but it definitely wasn’t something that was suitable for my skin type.

One of the positives for me was the scent. It was refreshing, and had pleasing citrus notes. If you are someone who values a good smelling product, this definitely ticks the box.

This was a product I wanted to like, but was unable to due to one of the ingredients. Given my response to other Wildcraft products, I don’t think this is an inherently bad toner. It seems high-quality, and I imagine the same apparent care has been put into its creation as the other products.

If the ingredients are ones that don’t bother you, I would encourage you to give this nonsense, and filler-free toner a try. If it works for you like other Wildcraft products have worked for me, it may be a hit!

Renew Eye Serum

Wildcraft’s answer to eye-care comes in the form of their Renew Eye Serum.

The bold orange hue of this product is linked to natural ingredients, rather than dyes. Turmeric is one such star ingredient, whose anti-inflammatory properties make this an eye serum that helps target puffiness, and dark under-eye circles.

This eye serum is easy to use, thanks to its rollerball application. The consistency is oily, but not greasy. It’s recommended that you (gently!) tap the product into your skin to help it absorb more quickly. At night, I have no issues with how it feels, but in the morning, I do wait before applying makeup so it doesn’t smudge. It has a light scent, that isn’t overpowering. It smells fresh, and sweet.

As for the effects, it does keep my skin moisturized and hydrated. I like how refreshing it feels to apply, and the rollerball makes it a quick step in my routine.

My only issue with this product is that I have to be careful with my application, as it doesn’t have the same viscosity as a cream. If even a small amount get’s into my eye, it stings badly. As long as I remain aware, and apply it with precision, the skin around my eyes feels great.

I do want to mention that the quality, and ingredient list, of this product far outweighs the price, in my opinion. For CAD$32.00, you receive a moisturizing eye serum, whose effects seems comparable to options I’ve tried in the CAD$50.00+ range.

For those seeking a cost-effective eye serum that delivers, put this eye serum on your radar!

Calm Face Lotion

This is my favourite Wildcraft product!

The Calm Face Lotion feels and smells wonderful. I liken it to the Goldilocks of face lotions: it has just the right amount of hydration!

Firstly, the formula is lightweight, and dries down matte within minutes. It’s especially great as a day cream, as both SPF and makeup layer well overtop, without looking cake-y.

As someone who is prone to blemishes, this lotion is great because it doesn’t cause any excess breakouts. It never clogs my pores, and it feels soothing on my skin.

The scent is also very calming, thanks to the marriage of lavender and chamomile.

I cannot rave enough about this lotion, and I highly suggest giving it a try.
