Toothbrushes

My North American Favourites:

1. Brush With Bamboo

My favourite bamboo toothbrush (besides one I picked up on a whim in a store in Stockholm), Brush With Bamboo is a somewhat pricier option. Despite the price tag, the accessibility of this item (it can be bought in most Whole Foods stores) and the fact that the entire product as well as the packaging are made out of plants make this a winner in my book!

2. Preserve

A cheaper but just as easily accessible option, Preserve toothbrushes are made out of recycled and sustainable materials. This particular toothbrush was crafted out of old yogurt containers, and is a good option for those wanting to reduce their environmental impact.

Toothpaste

My North American Favourites:

1. Fluoride Free Natural in Simply White (Tom’s of Maine)

This toothpaste is fluoride-free, natural, cruelty-free, and is mostly recyclable. The peppermint flavour, while not very strong, is my favourite, and it helps keep my teeth bright and white!

2. Whitening Complete Care Toothpaste in Simply Mint (Himalayan Boutique)

A pleasant tasting natural toothpaste free of harsh chemicals, what’s not to like? Well, there is one thing: my only complaint is that it is a bit… sticky? Stringy? However, this only occurs when you pour it out onto your toothbrush, and you can’t actually feel it when you brush. Otherwise, I enjoy this product as it tastes nice, seems to keep my teeth white, and I don’t mind the texture (save from when it comes out of the tube).

3. CharBright Alkaline Charcoal Toothpaste

For the charcoal aficionados, this is my favourite natural option. This USA made toothpaste is yummy, cool, and helps keep my chompers extra pearly white!

Mouthwash

My North American Favourites:

1. Tom’s of Maine

I adore the taste of Tom’s mouthwash! In the realm of natural products, it’s the most “normal mouthwash (AKA alcohol-containing)” tasting out of all the brands I have tried.

2. Desert Essence

This particular mouthwash is easy to find, and doesn’t have too strong of a taste. For those who don’t want anything too overpowering, it’s a great option!

  • Aesop (International)

  • Eau De Botot Original Natural Concentrated Anise Ginger Mouthwash (Europe)

Dental Floss

1.The Humble Co. Floss Pick

While not 100% recyclable or sustainable, this flossing option is a more environmentally conscious way to ensure your dental hygienist won’t chew you out for not flossing enough (Please tell me that isn’t only me…). These picks are also cruelty-free and vegan.

2. Radius Silk Floss

Easily available in North American and the U.K., Radius makes a nice floss that is 100% vegetarian and 100% biodegradable.

3. Dental Lace

This North American brand makes biodegradable floss in re-usable glass containers. Their packages are re-fillable, and the floss works very well!
