Best Face Oils For Your Budget

I know it may seem odd to put oil on your face, but this is one beauty secret that I consider a must.

Facial oils are a perfect staple to any skincare routine, whether it’s more “beginner” or “advanced”. No matter your budget, there’s an excellent facial oil out there for you. Here are some of my favourites!

The Ordinary

Optimal Skin Type: Combination, Dry, Oily

———

As of late, I have been buying this oil and using it with gusto all over my décolletage and neck. It’s super budget-friendly, but still delivers the skin benefits and hydration I want in that region.

The one downside is that I find this product less “potent” than some of the others mentioned on the list - it requires a lot more product for similar results.

If you’re looking to test out rosehip oil for the first time, or you’re on a tight budget but still crave the benefits of this wonderful oil, The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil is a good fit for you!

Optimal Skin Type: Dry

Acure is a brand I’ve only stumbled upon recently.

While this company sells many cold-pressed facial oils, their Radically Rejuvenating Rose Argan Oil (a blend of argan oil & rose oil, as well as geranium oil) is by far my favourite.

On top of the pleasant smell, this transparent beauty oil gently hydrates sensitive skin with a pleasant and non-greasy formula. I adore using this on my décolletage at night as it doesn’t stain my pyjamas, and leaves the skin feeling very plump in the morning.

The downside of this product to me is that it’s a pump, and not a dropper. This is a very minimal annoyance, which comes down to personal preference.

All in all, this is a gorgeous product that comes at a minimal price tag. It’s a great addition to any skincare lover’s facial oil game.

Maison Apothecare - Healing Oil (Face, Body & Hair)

Optimal Skin Type: Combination, Dry, Oily

———

This lovely face oil is one of Maison Apothecare’s bestsellers, and with good reason!

The floral scented concoction spreads beautifully over the skin, and is an excellent bang-for-your-buck product. Neroli oil pairs beautifully with argan oil, avocado oil, and Vitamin E to soothe and heal your skin. Thanks to those simple ingredients, this oil soaks quickly, and delivers deep hydration.

It’s also formulated to be used on hair, skin, and face. This is one Canadian product that should be on your list!

Sukin

Optimal Skin Type: Combination, Dry, Oily

———

Hailing from Australian, Sukin has created a fantastic Rosehip oil that’s cold-pressed, Certified Organic, paraben-free, and preservative-free. The Rosehip plant they use is grown and harvested in Chile.

The only ingredient in this product is “Rosa Eglanteria (Rose Hip) Oil”. If you want a concentrated, effective, and pure version of this oil, look no further than this. Out of all the items mentioned on this list, this one has the most pleasant smell.

In addition to their oil, Sukin uses this key ingredient in a number of their other skincare products. One of my favourites? The Sukin Rosehip Hydrating Day Cream. It smells great, and is an effective hydrator. How fab is that?

Pai Skincare

Optimal Skin Type: Combination, Dry, Oily

———

Unlike other Rosehip oils on the market, Pai’s version is a highly concentrated blend of the Rosehip fruit and seed oil. There is also Rosemary Extract and Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E) to boost the key ingredients benefits. Because it does mix together multiple parts of the Rosehip plant (the fruit and the seed), I find that I get more pronounced effects than with other Rosehip oils that I’ve used.

The oil isn’t heavily scented, and whatever scent it does have is quite pleasant. It’s easy to apply, and a small amount of product goes a very long way. You can either use it on its own as a moisturizer, or add a couple drops to your moisturizer to boost its effects.

Overall, despite the price-tag, Pai’s Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil is one of my favourites, as I found there was a noticeable difference in my skin after a couple of weeks of usage.

Drunk Elephant Marula Oil

Optimal Skin Type: Combination, Dry, Oily

———

There’s only one ingredient in this facial oil: Marula Oil!

Although it may not seem likely, most face oils contain more than one ingredient. This one, however, only features the namesake oil, and is not bogged down by artificial fragrances, dyes, or chemicals.

Marula Oil itself is rich in antioxidants, omegas 3 and 9, and polyphenols. Those ingredients help add a radiant glow to anyone, even those with sensitive skin.

This particular face oil works very well, and delivers on its promises. My only qualm is that I do find it a bit pricey considering it is only Marula oil. If you don’t mind splurging, it is a pleasant-smelling, fast-absorbing, and skin smoothing oil your face will be happy to soak up.

Kora Cosmetics Noni Glow Facial Oil

Optimal Skin Type: Combination, Dry, Oily

———

This product is one of my favourite from Kora Organics.

This face oil, whose scent isn’t too overpowering., is a powerful blend of four highly effective ingredients: sea buckthorn, rosehip oil, pomegranate oil, and the highly touted Noni fruit extract.

Of those four ingredients, the latter is the star. Kora Organics describes it as being “a powerful superfood and antioxidant containing more than 100 vitamins and minerals, including high amounts of Vitamins A and C.” Wow!

The only slight downside I have with this product is that it doesn’t soak into my skin as easily as some of the other oils. It’s a bit “greasy”, so I only use it at night, since makeup / SPF does not smooth nicely on top of it.

Despite that, this is, unsurprisingly, an excellent face oil that could easily be integrated into any skincare routine.

Maya Chia Supercritical Omega-3 Chia Face Oil

Optimal Skin Type: Dry, Mature

———

We’ve all heard about the wondrous effects of Omega-3 rich chia seeds. This face oil harnesses that power, and delivers deep hydration to skin in need of a drink.

This face oil soaks into the skin quite quickly, which means you aren’t left with a sticky/ greasy face the entire day. It has a very light scent, and it pairs well another another cream if you require extra moisture (I don’t recommend doing this often - perhaps if you have a fever, or have very dry skin).

This is a very potent face oil that is a great addition to any skincare routine. The company also sources their chia seeds from “conscious growers”, so you can rest assured you’re doing good for the world, and your skin.

Rms Beauty Oil

Optimal Skin Type: Dry, Combination

———

I adore the brand RMS, which is why I went ahead and splurged on this beauty oil. And… wow. Am I glad I ever did!

The RMS Beauty Oil is a phenomenal skincare product that smells fantastic, and delivers noticeable results.

It’s ingredients list is hefty, but it’s loaded with nothing but great (and clean!) ingredients.

My only issue is that it is on the “greasier” side of beauty oils, and isn’t optimal for use in the daytime. This is a better product to apply at night before sleeping, as it doesn’t pair well under makeup.

Besides that, I adore this product, and highly recommend the investment!

Herbivore Lapis Balancing Facial Oil

Optimal Skin Type: Acne-prone, Oily

———

Those who deal with red, or acne-prone skin (myself included 🙋🏻‍♀️) will really enjoy Herbivore Botanicals Lapis face oil made for balancing redness and blemishes.

This oil is filled with blue tansy (hence, the colour), which is a natural anti-inflammatory and antibacterial product that helps to minimize redness.

Although it is expensive, this gentle serum does help hydrate my skin without ever making it congested. The smell is also gorgeous, and makes the entire experience of doing skincare that much more pleasant.

No need to worry about the colour - it’s a lot less saturated when you dole it out with the dropper, and doesn’t stain your clothes or your face.

Overall, I really enjoyed this oil, and believe it is worth the price. If you have acne-prone or red skin, this may be worth trying out!
