Best Natural & Cruelty-Free Lip Balms

I grew up in a cold climate, so I am well aware of the importance of keeping your pout hydrated and plump. However, I am conscious that any product that goes near my mouth should be natural; I don’t want to be ingesting anything toxic! The products on this list are natural, delicious, and best of all, effective.

There’s no bad-mouthing these luscious lip products!

1. Ultra-nourishing Lip Balm - Rêve de Miel (Nuxe)

You don’t need to live with those chapped lips, honey!

This botanical oil, propolis, and honey infused lip balm is one of my favourite ways to banish chapped lips. The formula is easy to apply, and feels very comfortable to wear. It also looks beautiful on the lips, and can easily double as a lip gloss in a pinch.

The standout ingredient, propolis, is an ingredient found in beehives that can soothe and nourish a dry pout.

The product has a refreshing scent that is not too overpowering. This is personally one of my favourite lip balms, and I always keep it on my bedside table to apply when I go to bed and when I wake up.

2. Rosebud Salve (Rosebud Perfume Co.)

Smith’s Rosebud Salve is a cult-favourite lip balm that deserves it’s reputation.

This salve has one of the most pleasant rose scents of any lip product I’ve ever used. My mum swears by it as it reminds her of an old perfume she used to own.

On top of the scent, the salve has a very pleasing texture that looks “glossy” when applied to the lips. Some people may find it a bit “greasy”, but I personally adore how it feels.

If scent is something that attracts you to a product, don’t pass this one up!

3. EOS Lip Balm (EVolution of smooth)

This egg-shaped (or perhaps Yoshi egg-shaped) lip balm is fun to use, easy to apply, and works well at keeping your lips hydrated.

The big plus for these lip balms are that they are available in a variety of scents, finishes, and can be found in almost any city.

The types of scents you can find include mint, cinnamon, vanilla, and coconut. Every year, new limited edition versions come out, so there’s always. variety with the product.

4. Rose Lollipop Lip Balm (Lush Cosmetics)

Does your pout need a little pick-me-up? Swipe on this nourishing rose and lemon flavoured lip balm and watch dry, chapped lips begin to disappear.

This product - full of shea butter, cupuaçu butter, rose oil, and rose water - is my favourite that Lush has to offer. I find that it has the most pleasing formula of all Lush lip balms, and the scent is so romantic. My mum always ask me to pick her up a new pot every time I pop into Lush. If that’s not a ringing endorsement, I don’t know what is!

5. Kiss Mix cheeky (Eve Lom)

The best hybrid product on this list is Eve Lom’s Kiss Mix in Cheek (there are other colours available). This lip balm has enough flattering pigment to be worn as a pop of colour with an outfit during the daytime.

This is my personal favourite colour offering from this lip balm as the deep berry shade makes my teeth appear more white.

The formula is very silky, and my lips definitely feel moisturized after use.

For a good lip balm with enough pigmentation to make it standout for everyday usage, this is a good choice!

6. Sugar Lip Treatment (Fresh)

Although the price of this product might be shocking for a lip balm, it really does do wonders for the lips!

One of my favourite things about Fresh’s lip balm (besides it’s magnificent scent and flavour) is that it has some SPF in the product (yes, it is necessary to use sunscreen on your lips).

Fresh’s Sugar Lip Treatment is an excellent addition to bring along when you’ll be outside for an extended period of time - your lips will thank you when you bring it along to the beach, or on a hike!

7. Nuxe Lip Moisturising Stick Rêve de Miel

This sunflower and honey infused lip balm is a great on-the-go lip saviour.

For those who love honey and adore the original NUXE lip balm formula, this is a great product to pop into your purse or knapsack for a quick touch up. It’s also a good choice for those who can’t stand the idea of dipping their finger/ a make-up stick into the lip gloss jar.
