Pai Cleansing Oil Review... Does it Actually Work?

Cleansing oils have gained popularity recently due to the skincare trend of double cleansing. Pai Skincare - a natural, certified organic, and cruelty-free skincare brand - has come out with its own cleansing oil. However, does it really work, and can it replace the use of other makeup removers? Let’s see!

The draw of cleansing oils to me was its possibilities as a makeup remover. As someone who is attempting to lessen their carbon footprint, I have been trying to find ways of reducing the amount of waste I produce with my skincare and makeup routines. Cleansing oils naturally seemed like a fix to this problem - I could remove my makeup, without the use of makeup wipes or cottons pads!

My issue was trying to find a “natural” and “clean” cleansing oil. There are many available, but some of those feature parabens, sulfates, aluminum, and other products that I have been trying to reduce in the products I use. Once again, Pai is free of all of these “nasties”, so the product seemed promising.

I have used Pai’s Light Work Rosehip Cleansing Oil for the past three months, and here are my thoughts:

Pai Skincare Light Work Rosehip Cleansing Oil - Cleanser & Makeup-Remover - Cruelty-free, organic, vegan

The cleansing oil works beautifully in conjunction with another cleanser to clean off everyday makeup. Foundation, concealer, eyeliner, lipgloss, highlighter, and contour are successfully washed away with the cleanser. It also doesn’t leave my skin dry, irritated, or extra oily after use, which is a huge bonus for me as some other oil-based cleansers may do that. Your face does look a bit messy when the oils start “breaking down” the product, but once you rinse away with water and then use another water-based cleanser, it’s all sorted.

However, I have found that more stubborn makeup such as waterproof eyeliner, mascara, glitter, and liquid lipsticks are not fully washed away with the cleansing oil. I often need to use another makeup remover for these products as well as the cleansing oil to fully clean my skin. As this isn’t something that I do everyday, it isn’t too much of an issue. Just keep a few makeup wipes on hand for those rare occasions, and voila! Problem solved.

In short, this product is a very effective makeup remover and cleanser for “everyday” makeup looks. Although I was skeptical about a natural and “no-nasties” makeup oil, I am pleased to say this one is worth purchasing.

I really like that it has greatly decreased the amount of makeup wipes/ cotton pads I was using on a regular basis. Now, I mainly just use the cleansing oil to remove makeup, followed by another water-based cleanser (this is double cleansing). I only use a cotton pad perhaps once a month when I do a more “elaborate” makeup look that involves a more labour-intensive removal.

For an effective product that’s good for you and the environment, don’t think twice about purchasing Pai Skincare’s Light Work Rosehip Cleansing Oil! It’s get a seal of approval from me 🙆🏻‍♀️!

Final Thoughts

For everyday cleansing and makeup removal, this is an excellent product to use. It also helps the environment as it negates the need for makeup wipes and cotton pads. While trickier “event” makeup such as glitter, false lashes, and waterproof mascara require perhaps a stronger makeup remover, this is overall an excellent product!
